We are T.A.L.O.N.S.

The Academy of Learning for Outstanding Notable Students is a program for gifted students who think just a little bit eccentrically, or differently, as the school district defines us. We are a group of select people who have the opportunity to do things we wouldn’t normally be able to do in a classroom, and instead of reading a text and memorizing information, we are the kind of people who want to learn how to apply it. We spend our classes doing the most unconventional things, from playing ice breaker games outside, to doing science experiments in a pond that nobody knew existed. If you haven’t already gathered it, we like to be hands-on. We find course work redundant, and we would love to see how animals interact in an ecosystem, rather than read about it in a text book.

Defying Normality is a good motto for us; we exist outside of the confines of the typical high school student persona. We have the freedom to be who we want to be, and to express ourselves in whatever way we choose. This allows us to ‘Defy the Normalities’ of high school life. T.A.L.O.N.S. is for the unique learner, and we strive to highlight our diversities.

This blog is a way for us to let you all know what we are up to, and it is a great way to connect with other student bloggers. We each individually have our own blogs, but this is more a way for us to collectively share our ideas with the world. You will see posts about anything under the sun, be it a bus ride or a novel reflection. Just like no two T.A.L.O.N.S. students are the same, no two styles of writing, or posts will be the same, so check back frequently to see what is new in the T.A.L.O.N.S. world.
