Turning Wisdom into Pretty Things (Interview synthesis roundup post) -Zoe

Last Friday, the TALONS gathered. This was unsurprising, given that it was a school day and we were in class. What was more surprising was that we had all finished our homework. In everybody’s hands there was a transcript. Whether it was a recording or written notes, we had all finished conducting our practice interviews. It was, in a word, awesome.

Everyone we interviewed had interesting things to say, and every learner left their interview feeling like they had gained some sort of life knowledge. Because learning a life lesson and not doing anything with it is lame, we had a small quad project: Over the course of one block, everyone distilled a theme statement from their interview. These theme statements were then combined in groups of 3 or 4 to give a large theme statement.

Then came the fun part: Making it cool. We represented the theme statements in whatever way we saw fit. These are the results.

Immy, Julie, Zoe

This one is a podcast, where we mostly talk about why we chose our theme statements.

Toren, Daniel, Leanne, and Emily

They made a prezi out of their theme statements, then added a symbolic picture. It’s quite pretty.

Chelsea, Iris, Isaac, and Duncan.

It’s a photo story! I find these things so exciting. This one details the life and times of Duncan, in an educational and inspiring sort of way.

Albert, Julianna, Hayley, and Daniel

Aw man. It’s another photo story. My heart might explode from the excitement….This one details the life and times of the TALONS fridge. Don’t worry, it actually makes a lot of sense.

Jess, Galen, Kim, and Clayton.

They turned their theme statements into a multicoloured symbolic symbol-thing. Pretty cool, plus bright colours are awesome.

Sean, Jen A, Alisha and Derek.

They made a picture as well. As you might be able to guess, it’s also symbolic, although instead of being multicoloured it’s a sketch. Monotones are awesome too.

Louise, Conrad, Vincent, Carlin

This one’s a prezi, outlining all the theme statements. Pretty cool stuff.

Julien, Victoria, Lexi, and Stephanie.

They made wordles! Those things are so epic. These ones are made out of keywords from all the interviews.

Aman, Jeff, Megan, Alvin

They captioned a picture. It looks so pro, I can’t even handle it.

Olya, Max, Sara, Macguire

It’s a prezi. They’ve got theme statements, plus some awesome cool fonts. And pictures! Wooot!

….And of course, the post directly before this one. That one’s a video.
